Blankets

A blanket is a great gift to give to the needy, to our troops or to anyone else for that matter and fleece is a great fabric to make it from. It is warm, soft, washable and can easily be cut and made into a blanket by practically anyone without doing any sewing.

To get your fleece blanket project going just follow these 4 easy steps:

Step 1) Select the style of blanket you would like to make:

a) A simple blanket can be made just by cutting a single layer of fabric to size and rolling it up.

b) Or, use two pieces of fleece to make Kwik-Sew's classic no-sew blanket with knotted fringes. You can download their instructions here.
c) For a slightly more involved and tailored edge use this braided no-sew edge for your blanket. Instructions are in a tutorial here.

Step 2) Calculate the number of yards of fleece you will need. To start, decide on the style of blanket (a, b or c above), the size (see below) and whether there are to be one or two layers of fleece. If you like, we'd be glad to help you figure out how much fleece your project will need.

Size guide:
a) infant receiving blankets are usually 30-inch squares;
b) crib blankets are about 30 to 36 inches wide and 48 inches long;
c) lap blankets are 48-inch squares; and,
d) stadium blankets are between 54 to 60 inches wide and 60 to 72 inches long.

Step 4) Cut and Knot

We can help you here too and cut the fabric to the rectangular size you want for your blankets.

Then have your team cut the fringes and tie the knots to finish the blanket. Send us an email or give us a call for details and pricing.
